Because not every real-life relationship is like in the movies. I just wanted to read something that didn’t include a lot of difficult English words.īut you know what? I really think that everyone could read this book since it is mostly about how Audrey thinks about romance movies. I also picked this book because teen books are easier to read and since English is not my first language, it is good to read something that is a little bit easier. I like how every character develops in this book, especially Audrey who absolutely thinks that romance movies are unrealistic and I don’t need a man right now to I am ready to date someone again. I still believe in romance but I will look at those movies differently. Maybe with a different result but the aspects are still there.Īnd now every time I see a romance movie I have to think about this book and how ‘Audrey (or Holly Bourne) was so right about it. And how funny it is that almost the exact same things are happening to Audrey. I like how Holly Bourne talks about every single aspect every romance movie (and book) has. And the movies always have the same ingredients like the meet the right person, they fall in love and they have extraordinary dates, then he or she messes everything up and he/she has to apologize and not just having a ‘I am sorry conversation’ but a huge over the top ‘I am sorry’ gesture.

But even I started to think about romance movies more often. I am a huge fan of romance movies because they always bring me in a great mood. For her Media classes, she has to write a paper about something media related and she decided to write about romance movies, who are not always very realistic. So Audrey is very skeptical about romance and romance movies since her parents got divorced and her boyfriend broke up with her. But I love romance movies and that is the reason why I bought this book. Some books are still amazing, but I can’t always identify with them anymore. The thing is that I am getting older and some teen books are not very interesting for me anymore. It is the first time that I read a book by Holly Bourne but this book was on my wishlist for ages. Oh, and zombies…YA star Holly Bourne tackles real love in this hugely funny and poignant novel. It features pain and confusion and hope and wonder and a ban on cheesy cliches.
